Center for Renewable Energy & Appropriate Technology

Renewable Energy

Renewable Energy

CREATE is home to professionals with years of experience developing, assembling, and installing renewable energy systems from micro-hydro to solar, as well as hybrid systems and mechanized household charging systems.

Education & Training

Education & Training

We offer in-depth, comprehensive training in the theory and application of building efficient, small-scale renewable energy systems for communities that need it. CREATE offers a hands-on approach with on-site workshops and classrooms.

Community Empowerment

Community Empowerment

The main focus of CREATE is to empower local communities with clean energy and equip them with the knowledge and resources to contribute to the global sustainability movement, and the growth of micro-economies.

Hybrid

Run-of-River Hydro is a form of hydroelectric power that harnesses the natural flow of water with minimal effect on the surrounding environment. Water flow travels through pipelines into a fore-bay, powering the turbine within. TONIBUNG locally manufactures their turbines at CREATE in Sabah, Malaysia.

A Solar Panel is a set of solar photovoltaic modules electrically connected and mounted on a supporting structure, obtaining energy from sunlight. The charged solar cells are then used to generate and supply electricity for residential applications.

Gasification is a process of super-heating organic or fossil based carbon materials without combustion, provided by a chamber with controlled amounts of oxygen and/or steam. The resulting ‘syngas’ is itself a fuel that can be harnessed as renewable energy if obtained from biomass.

Micro-Hydro systems complement photovoltaic solar energy systems (solar panels) because in tropical areas water flow is limited during dry seasons, when solar energy contains higher potential as an energy resource.
